Let’s start with the obvious, shall we? My name is Jackie Sobon and I am a freelance food and product photographer. My background is in Industrial Design, and even before that I had always been creative; so, it’s no surprise that as an adult I began to play with my food.
The bulk of it started when I got a great deal on a decent DLSR from a friend and began documenting my mundane dishes, in what are some ugly photos. Eventually, I put what I had learned in school to use and produced better and better photos. This was a few years ago, and I consider myself as a constant learner, so I am always researching new techniques and technologies.
That being said, food photography has become a large part of my life and is a total passion of mine. Some of the companies I’ve worked with are VegNews Magazine, Vegan Cuts, Forks Over Knives, Ripple Foods, and more. I also do portraiture and event photography, and have also dabbled in wedding photography.
