Being vegan in Southern California has some serious perks. There are new restaurants, pop-ups, and vegan options appearing all over, all of the time! Here are some photos of recent food field trips around the area. You can find even more food pics/info on my instagram!
While playing with food is my favorite thing to do, occasionally I dabble in shooting portraits of people for various companies, publications and professional use. Below are some of my favorite shots from the past year! I look forward to experimenting with more lifestyle photography in the future, so that I can expand upon my creativity.
I can finally share some of my favorite photos of Superfoods 24/7! You may remember the first book that I did in this series by Jessica Nadel of Cupcakes and Kale, Greens 24/7. Jessica is great at creating healthy, inventive, plant-based recipes, and I love helping her vision come to life with food styling and photography. The photo direction for the book was to keep it simple and natural, with minimal distractions from the colorful dishes.
I’m hoping to get more updates going on here, as a lot has happened in the last few months!
(All photos are by me, and I have the permission to share them from Quarto Publishing)
Today is the first day of the Photography 101 course, put on by WordPress! With as many things as I shoot for freelance assignments, it’s easy to forget that exploring with photography can be so fun and really get your wheels turning. It’s those reasons that made me curious to participate in this course and I can’t wait to share all of these photos with everyone!
The first topic is Home. I’ve lived in Southern California, near Long Beach, for a majority of my life and have had many memories in the city of Long Beach. One of the more recent memories there was celebrating my dad’s retirement at a dinner near the marina. There were some rain clouds, but it hadn’t begun to rain just yet and the sunset was beautiful; so, I took a picture of the harbor. Here it is for you to check out!
To say that I was honored to be the photographer for my friend Kristina‘s wedding would be an understatement. Firstly, it was my first experience as a wedding photographer, I have shot events in the past but not anything that was this important. So, I can’t thank Kristina enough for having faith in me, especially to shoot it by myself! I’ll be honest, I was mostly nervous and stressed the entire time; but overall it was fun and I enjoyed spending so much time with Kristina, her husband Jason, and all of their family and friends.
I took just under a half-million photos (HA! Yeah, right), so I can’t post them all here, but I definitely wanted to share some of my favorites. I should also mention that the wedding was at the Nines Hotel in Portland, OR., where the weather is usually mild, but this particular weekend (September 6, 2014) it was 100F!! This made for hot wedding parties atop the hotel, but I’m pretty pleased with how a lot of the photos turned out.
As far as weddings go, this was one of the funniest, funnest and tastiest that I’ve been to. Congratulations to Kristina and Jason on their marriage! ❤
