Being vegan in Southern California has some serious perks. There are new restaurants, pop-ups, and vegan options appearing all over, all of the time! Here are some photos of recent food field trips around the area. You can find even more food pics/info on my instagram!
While playing with food is my favorite thing to do, occasionally I dabble in shooting portraits of people for various companies, publications and professional use. Below are some of my favorite shots from the past year! I look forward to experimenting with more lifestyle photography in the future, so that I can expand upon my creativity.
It’s nearly time for Eaternity: More than 150 Deliciously Easy Vegan Recipes for a Long, Healthy, Satisfied, Joyful Life by Jason Wrobel to be released out into the wild! This is great for several reasons: Jason is an amazing person and has great recipes, the book is gorgeous between the layout and design, and lastly, because I was fortunate enough to take the food photos for this beautiful creation.
Jason’s superfood-filled recipes are colorful, delicious and fun to shoot; which makes it easier on me as the food stylist and photographer. I also had the privilege of having Michelle Marquis, aka The Alchemist Chef, as an assistant on this project. Her help and presence was priceless and made this project a joy to work on.
The book is officially out April 5th and I highly recommend that you get your hands on a copy! Below are some of my favorites from the 80 recipes that I shot.
One of the newer developments in my life is one that is very exciting for me. In June, I was asked to join the VegNews Magazine team as their Sweet Eats columnist, as part of their relaunch and until the foreseeable future. Having a piece in VegNews has been a goal of mine for 4 years, so being in every issue was huge for me!
Since the relaunch, I have had my photos on two of the four covers, with a 2-page spread in the holiday issue, and a column in all four. In this post are some of what I’ve worked on with them, and I will do another update in 6 months or so, since the magazine comes out every other month.
I can finally share some of my favorite photos of Superfoods 24/7! You may remember the first book that I did in this series by Jessica Nadel of Cupcakes and Kale, Greens 24/7. Jessica is great at creating healthy, inventive, plant-based recipes, and I love helping her vision come to life with food styling and photography. The photo direction for the book was to keep it simple and natural, with minimal distractions from the colorful dishes.
I’m hoping to get more updates going on here, as a lot has happened in the last few months!
(All photos are by me, and I have the permission to share them from Quarto Publishing)
