I can finally share some of my favorite photos of Superfoods 24/7! You may remember the first book that I did in this series by Jessica Nadel of Cupcakes and Kale, Greens 24/7. Jessica is great at creating healthy, inventive, plant-based recipes, and I love helping her vision come to life with food styling and photography. The photo direction for the book was to keep it simple and natural, with minimal distractions from the colorful dishes.
I’m hoping to get more updates going on here, as a lot has happened in the last few months!

Late last year and for the first half of this year I was fortunate enough to be asked to work on a project by an ambitious and motivated friend of mine. She is Puerto Rican, as well as vegan, and is in the process of starting Casa Coqui, a Puerto Rican restaurant chain that is completely vegan and gluten-free. I did work on some menu development, but most of my involvement was in food styling and photography of this insanely delicious food. Below are some of the photos taken for the website, which you should definitely check out if you’re into delicious eats!

I went to Disneyland on Sunday, for the first time in a couple of months, to test out the new Nikkor 50mm 1.4G lens that I obtained around Christmas. I’ve casually shot a couple of things since getting it, but nothing noteworthy; so I figured that I’d take it out in the evening to practice low-light shooting with it.
The shallow depth of field is something that I need to get used to, as the focus is a little temperamental. This really only becomes a problem when I’m shooting on the run (as to not get trampled by crowds) because if I don’t get the focus just right, it ends up VERY wrong. Overall, I am really having some fun with this lens and would like to do more portraiture shooting with it and take it out for a daytime trip.
I’m so excited to be sharing this post with you today! Sometimes, it’s really hard to keep pictures for cookbooks under wraps until they are published and in stores, and Greens 24/7: More Than 100 Quick, Easy, and Delicious Recipes for Eating Leafy Greens and Other Green Vegetables at Every Meal, Every Day was definitely one of those books. I was fortunate enough to take the photos of Jess’s, of Cupcakes and Kale, first cookbook mid-2014; and it was one of my favorite large projects to date.
Jess’s food is colorful, balanced, delicious and imaginative, so it made it really easy to love cooking/styling/shooting these dishes. Here are just a few of my favorite shots from the book, as I wouldn’t want to spoil it for you. 😉
